Greg Aaron, cybersecurity expert, discusses the secret world of the domain name system

By

In this interview, Greg describes how the Internet was built without security in mind. While this design has enabled the rapid growth and benefits that the Internet brings, it has also created imbalances in terms of cybersecurity. Greg describes the DNS as 'something of a secret' - people take for granted that the Internet just works, without having to understand how it works. As a cybersecurity researcher, Greg also highlights the challenges of gathering the data and information needed for cybersecurity-related research. It is vital for that evidence base to be more accessible and transparent, to enable relevant stakeholders to make better decisions.
